Big news today from VIA. They announced a new chipset, the VIA VX700 which combines the northbridge and southbridge into one chip. This is huge news for UMPC manufacturers because it allows them to design smaller, more efficient, and cooler UMPCs!
We're talking a footprint reduction of 40%! Not only that, but combining the two chips allows for more efficient operation for longer battery life. This new chipset is quite an advance over the chipset found in the TabletKiosk eo (VIA VN800).
Along with this new chipset is a new entry in the UMPC category from DualCor. Called the cPC, it features the new VIA VX700 chipset and a VIA C7-M ULV processor running at 1.5 GHz.
