Steve Paine over at UMPCPortal.com has crowned the OQO model 02 "World's most efficient UMPC" after realizing just how power efficing the VIA Ultra Mobility Platform is. In his calculations, he's figured the average power drain to be roughly 6.6 Watts per hour. What's really amazing is that the VIA Ultra Mobility Platform found on devices today is potentially more efficient than the UMPC platform Intel has been working so hard on and announced in Beijing last month.
For the full details of the revelation, head over to UMPCPortal.com and see if the all the math adds up.

It might be rated as "most efficient", but is it? UX280 lasts 2 times longer and performes 2 times better then OQO. What is the point of releasing Model 2 when actually the previous model was performing the same as this one (Transmetta and Via 1.5 Ghz perform the same) ? OQO does not move ahead, they stay on the same site and no real improvements are here in regards to battery live and performance.

I hope no one believes that the Transmeta CPU in the model 01 can compete with the VIA 1.5 GHz in the model 02. As far as battery life, the UX280P's battery life is terrible, last I heard it gets about an hour and a half and cannot outperform the model 02. The OQO model 02 easily does 2.5 hours with plenty of performance.
