MTube Gallery and Specifications

I've just put up a new MTube gallery featuring images of the recently announced MTube from Taiwan's Science and Technology Advisory Group (STAG). I've also managed to track down some more specifications of the device:

Processor: VIA C7-M @ 1.0 GHz
Storage: 8 GB Flash
Display: 2.8" LCD
Resolution: 640 x 480
Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 2 cm
Weight: 150 g
Battery Life: 4 hours
Connectivity: WiMAX & WiFi
Video Codecs: H.264, WMV, RMVB, MOV, FLV, DIVX

I also received a bunch of videos of this new device, but they're all in Chinese so I've got a bit of work to do before they're ready to be published. Stay tuned.

Well done VIA. Very nice 'design win' (as you like to say!)

I'm not a big fan of the 4:3 screen, but it looks acceptable otherwise. It'd be cool if the dock had ethernet, too, I suppose.

Are these real shots, or just mockups? I'm leaning towards the latter.

I've seen the device which is as small as the picture above. Amazing design, but when will this be mass production? 2009? I think it's too late!

Why create a simple media player when more interactive devices like the GP2X exist?
And a 2.8" display only? There'll virtually be no improvement in having a 640x480 panel if it's that small.
VIA, make a "console-like" device like the GP2X and give us a good screen size, like 4" or more, and you will have a winner.
