Everex has confirmed that the CloudBook will be floating into the United States in January at the very cool price of $399. While I don't have any additional information yet, this is a big step for Everex who has been making waves in the retail sector with the $299 gPC desktop. For them to release a UMPC at just $399 is a bold move that has a lot of people talking about how it will impact the ASUS eeePC's sales.
Will consumers do some comparison shopping between the eeePC and the CloudBook? I think this is the opening round of the biggest battle in the UMPC sector that we've seen to date. The stylish underpowered eeePC versus the functional-looking full-featured CloudBook. Both systems ship with a customized version of linux, but will ASUS' implementation be enough to combat the Google-centric gOS which recently ignited mainstream interest in Linux?
Its too early to tell, but make sure you bring your raincoat, because a storm is brewing.

This will be interesting to watch. I wonder if Everex will sell this at WalMarts...that would be devastating for the EeePC. Now that I saw this, I might just hold off on buying that EeePC and wait for this to come out.

I don't think Everex has a presence in Australia. If you're lucky a distributor may pick up the design for you guys. If anything you might be able to order it online and have it shipped.

I'm not sure if it will get me a DreamBook in the end. (I live in Sydney)
