CNET Asia's Top 5 UMPCs

Packard Bell EasyNote XS20Gigabyte UMPC U60

CNET Asia has put together their top 5 UMPCs "based on readership as well as review scores" for 2007. VIA based UMPCs, the EasyNote XS and the Gigabyte U60, have come in at #2 and #3 right behind the eeePC. Interestingly, AMD-based UMPCs took the remaining two spots leaving only one Intel representative on the list. It's in complete opposition to the desktop market, people are paying more for VIA-based devices, and even going with AMD-based devices that are more expensive than Intel-based devices. In fact, if it weren't for the fact that the ASUS eeePC cost $300 I doubt we'd even see Intel on this list. The UMPC market really is an entirely new place with all new rules.
