Gigabyte M700 UMPC

Chippy spotted a poster of this interesting UMPC, the Gigabyte M700, before the show started and snapped a pic. Gigabyte's press release indicates it has a 7" screen weighs 650 grams and comes equipped with an ExpressCard for 3.5G or Wimax connectivity. Key additions for the M700 are it's dual webcams and integrated GPS.

I'm really impressed that they have trimmed the weight down to 650 grams, that's super light for a 7" device. It seems a lot of people had been expressing displeasure that there weren't any new slate designs coming out for UMPCs, this one should put a smile on their faces.

Great design!

I wonder when will the Isaiah based UMPC come out?

They will certainly not hear comments about having a sub-standard keyboard on this one :grin

More seriously: I really do not understand why not more of the UMPC makers include ExpressCard slots in their devices (at least the 7" models).

I'd be curious to find out what kind of input the tablet uses...if it might be up to using as an art tablet.

At this point we're still not sure when it will be available for purchase or at what price. We have to wait for Gigabyte to launch this officially.
