VIDEO - Microsoft Reader Optimized for Origami

Another great video from GeekSet, this time he demonstrates the new Microsoft Reader Optimized for Origami. I made an announcement about this when it first came out, but it's always better to see what the product is like in action.

One of the interesting features of Microsoft Reader is that it can actually read your books aloud to you. The other great thing about this version of Reader is that you can use your finger to change pages, skip to a different chapter, or adjust settings on the fly.

Tracy & Matt Unbox the OQO model 02 UMPC

Wow, another OQO model 02 unboxing, this time from Tracy & Matt. They remind me a little bit of our very own John & Fiona on VIA Arena. There's not much new in this unboxing, but it's interesting to see how other people are doing their own. Personally, I like the raw, you've got one take and no idea what's inside, unboxing style. Although it is good to see people who are well prepared for their videos.

TrustedReviews reviews the OQO model 02 UMPC

Jonathan Bray from TrustedReviews just posted this in-depth review of the OQO model 02 UMPC. OQO got high marks for usability, but the integrated graphics on the model 02 got called out. They wrote:

It all results in perfectly acceptable levels of performance when running office applications and the whole system seems to run much quicker and cooler than the old model. But there is a caveat: the graphics chipset – VIA's integrated S3G UniChrome graphics with shared memory – isn't particularly powerful. In fact it isn't even capable of displaying Vista's Aero graphics, so no fancy transparent glass windows and it definitely won't put up with any 3D gaming.

Which I've got to take issue with. We've got all kinds of video evidence to prove that you can do some 3D gaming. It may not be all the most recent games, but a lot of very popular games can be played on the OQO model 02. Overall TrustedReviews gave the OQO a very positive rating, mainly citing great usability and general feel of the device.

VIA NanoBook vs ASUS eeePC

This morning I got an e-mail from ThoughtFix and Chippy asking me how I thought the HTC Shift compares to the VIA NanoBook. It reminded me that I have more NanoBook comparisons to do. I still have the ASUS eeePC to compare before I get to the HTC Shift, so without further ado...

VIDEO - Rotating OQO model 02

Check out this video, I don't know how the author modified his OQO, but it's really cool to see the screen rotating around as he turns it. We've got a typhoon over here in Taiwan so I'm going to head out before I get sacked in at the office. Have a good weekend everyone!
