One of my favorite internet celebrities, Craig Newmark, has got himself an OQO model 02. Here's what he has to say about the device so far:
so far, pretty good, works as promised.
When I have cellular function working, I'll never be offline, feeding my dysfunction well.
It's impressive that it comes with no bloatware, no product comeons that clog the system.
Instead, it comes with a current version of Firefox, pretty good.
Hopefully soon, I can get Ubuntu Linux working on it, for reliability and safety. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 0 ] |

Lately we've seen a lot of favorable reviews of the Samsung Q1B. It's becoming apparent that it is the #1 choice for battery life. Users are regularly reporting over 3 hours of use on the standard battery and well over 5 hours continuous use on the extended battery pack. This latest review is from Tech Gear in the UK, here's a quote:
Battery life is fantastic with the average charge giving just over 3 hours of use. I managed to squeeze almost 4 hours of use out of the Q1B of course reducing the screen’s brightness level makes a big difference and so does the wireless functionality.

Another great video from i-cube, this time he goes more into depth about how the device performs and all of the little details that you've been wondering about. It's almost as good as having the device yourself. If you're considering getting an OQO model 02 (who doesn't want one?!) I definitely recommend taking 15 minutes and watching both parts of this video.

Last week I briefly got my hands on the new Medion UMPC. They've retooled the device one more time and I believe this is the final design that will be shipping to customers. Take a look at the front, they've added a silver band across the bottom and redesigned the buttons.
I have also begun a new gallery section on the site, in the next few days I'll have more pictures uploaded of all the VIA based UMPCs on the market. You can find a bunch of brand-new, never seen before, Medion UMPC pictures in the gallery now. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 0 ] |

I just found this great review of the Samsung Q1B over on TabletPCReview. Antoine's been writing a lot about mobility recently and has really been living the ultra mobile lifestyle. Here's a little quote from his review:
the battery life, when not using Wi-Fi, is absolutely incredible. I only wish that my Treo smartphone was as frugal when being put to hard work. And it was not just the at work battery life that was unexpectedly well, because of my work schedule the Q1b was left for multiple days without being touched and it picked up just fine off of standby right where I left it. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 0 ] |
