No sooner did I go home than Engadget posted up photos of the new HP UMPC. I was hoping for a 9" screen and they did me one better by bumping the resolution up to 1366x766. There wasn't an option for HSDPA listed, but I can always plug in my USB HSDPA modem until they get around to providing that option. This little PC looks great, I can't wait to hear more about it. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 30 ] |

According to crave:
Over a seafood dinner with HP management last Friday, the PC maker offered more than just aorta-clogging cuisine. In an informal chit-chat session, we learned that HP is readying its first UMPC which may hit the market in late spring.
While I can't make any comments about which platform HP would be using for a UMPC, I can certainly say they would be a welcome addition to the UMPC market. For a big player like this to step into the ring is a great sign that the UMPC market is quite healthy. Any guesses on what type of UMPC they'll be putting out? Will it be a mini-note ala CloudBook / eee PC or will it be a slider like the OQO or Sony UMPC? It looks like Steve Paine is hoping for a slider. Me? I'm hoping for a super thin 9" mini-note with HSDPA built-in. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 2 ] |

Chippy has put together this great video covering the Wibrain B1 UMPC's very nice keyboard. The magical thing about the Wibrain is that it's really been thoughtfully designed to be very functional. The thumboard has nice rubberized keys with good travel and a satisfying click. Take a look at the video for a hands-on look at the Wibrain B1. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 0 ] |

Today is the big day! Zareason just published this photo showing the first CloudBook getting checked over before the first shipment goes out. They're getting put onto trucks and sent out for delivery today so keep an eye out for the postman or the Fedexman. When you get your CloudBook shoot a video or take pictures of your unboxing and share them with us. Let's make those eeePC guys green with envy. | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 5 ] |

It wasn't just a minor version tweak that delayed the CloudBook's launch to February 15th, it was a total replacement of the Windows Manager (GUI) of gOS. According to ZaReason, one of the companies selling Everex CloudBooks, they had reached the limit with Enlightenment and needed more flexibility so they decided to switch to GNOME. The good news is that, as of February 12th, they said, "Everything is on schedule for the Friday ship." Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and the day after is CloudBook Day, I've got them both marked on my calendar, how about you? | | Click to Comment | Comments [ 3 ] |
