VIDEO - Rob Enderle Series - Part Two
Written by Bjorn Stromberg
Monday, 08 May 2006

Today we've got part two of the four part series of videos from Rob Enderle. In this segment Rob talks about the UMPC of today and how it performs its many jobs better than the devices it's meant to replace.

A lot of important features of the UMPC seem to be overlooked by a lot of the reviewers. I think overall there's a lack of imagination, we're all stuck in sit-at-your-desk mode and don't think about how great it would be to take your computer wherever you go.

I think it's time to move beyond taking your notebook to the local coffee shop and find some new places to bring your computer.

White eo Disrobed

Great news for a few folks out there. It seems the white TabletKiosk eo's have started to arrive at peoples' doors. I've seen two new boxes here at VIA calling out to me to open them. Unfortunately I won't get to open them until Monday or possibly Tuesday.

I did notice a photo posted up on Origami Portal of a white eo fully dis-robed and looking almost frisky. I don't know about you all, but there's something almost pornographic about these photo-spreads of gadgets taken out of their boxes. Unfortunately some of these UMPCs look like middle-aged housewives. That yellow slip the white eo comes wrapped in looks like it belonged to an 80s fashion victim.

*sighs* I guess we can't all have the same product designers as Apple.

And if you thought gadgetporn was strange, there's always espressoporn (don't worry, it's work safe!).

inkiness.com http://inkiness.com/

I ran into this really nice blog today, it's done entirely using the Inking features from the Tablet PC Edition of Windows XP. Personally I think it's a beautiful looking website and it's really cool to see all of the posts in both handwriting and text. Not only that but with the handwriting recognition that's available now it is very easy to do.

I put together this little popularity contest website on Ning called Origami Battle. If you've got more UMPCs you want to add to the fray feel free to submit them. I haven't quite decided who I think is the king of the hill in the land of the UMPCs, but according to Chippy over on Carrypad the Samsung Q1 is the most popular.
