VIDEO - Mr. Tablet PC

The students at Washington University in St. Louis, MO have put together a series of videos called the Med Students of Genius. This installment features "Mr. Tablet PC" who apparently is quite successful at med school. You can see him being more productive, having more fun, and laughing at the other students while they struggle to manage all their paper-based materials. I watched a few more of their videos, they've got a huge collection (almost 100 videos) of really funny things. If I were looking at a med school to attend, I'd be considering going there.

Hat tip to GottaBeMobile.

Another great video from GeekSet, this time he demonstrates the new Microsoft Reader Optimized for Origami. I made an announcement about this when it first came out, but it's always better to see what the product is like in action.

One of the interesting features of Microsoft Reader is that it can actually read your books aloud to you. The other great thing about this version of Reader is that you can use your finger to change pages, skip to a different chapter, or adjust settings on the fly.

Check out this video, I don't know how the author modified his OQO, but it's really cool to see the screen rotating around as he turns it. We've got a typhoon over here in Taiwan so I'm going to head out before I get sacked in at the office. Have a good weekend everyone!

VIDEO - WoW on the iPhone
Written by Bjorn Stromberg
Wednesday, 11 July 2007

We saw the video of John Gatt playing WoW on the OQO, now check out this video of a guy playing WoW on his iPhone.

Of course, the iPhone can't actually run World of Warcraft, he doesn't even move his character around. While it is certainly incredible that it's even possible to use a phone to interact with a computer running WoW, I think it does show the limitations of the ARM platform. People do want to be able to run all their favorite applications on their mobile device and that's what x86 is going to deliver in the next few years. It's going to be far easier for CPU manufacturers to follow VIA's lead in shrinking package sizes and power consumption than it will be for the entire x86 development community to turn around and start developing for ARM based devices.
